Finding Organic Church in Evansville, IN

Hey guys. This morning I want to take a minute to share what’s going on in the community of believers my wife and I are a part of. I’m also hoping that this blog post will specifically reach others in my area.

This post is not an argument against established institutional churches or ministries. If you are content where God has you then that’s awesome. I don’t want to convince you otherwise. This is simply a small overview of my journey and an invitation to others that are searching for the same thing.

Forgetting to Hold Fast to What is Good

Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good. – 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21

A few years ago, I stumbled across these words from Paul with a few other close friends during a Bible study. This was the season in our lives that we were becoming very discontent with the institutional expression of the church. It’s been a long time since him and I have talked and even longer time since we actually saw each other, but I still consider this friend to very important to me simply because of all we did and discovered together. Everything from learning about punk rock to playing music and becoming rebellious. We walked away from God at the same time and begin searching for some sort of meaning in this crazy world. His recent texts and messages have been focused on the past and remembering those times growing up. Remembering the past – the good and the bad. You could say this post is about looking back and looking forward.

Unity in Christ Alone

” Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! – Psalm 133:1″

All throughout the New Testament we read about unity in the Body of Christ. In the fourth chapter of Ephesians, Paul urges us to walk with humility and gentleness. He tells us to bear with one another and to be eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. David in Psalm 133 tells about how great it is when brothers and sisters dwell in unity. We are called to be one body, one corporate man with Christ as the head. But how can we do this? How can the Body of Christ dwell in unity when we have so many differences?
