Quincy, thanks for another post well worth reading. I put my email address in your subscribe box; much easier than remembering to visit the blog.
Yes, doing things for the Lord and keeping a schedule can distract us from the Lord. I might look more at when I have to call a brother than on the fact that the call is a time to be together in the fellowship of God's Son, our Lord (1 Cor. 1:9). Sometimes I miss Christ when I tell others about our great meetings regarding what we do or what we sang or how wonderful the potluck dinner was. Instead, if our meeting was focused, I saw more of the Lord and I should tell others about that aspect of Him. Example: last Friday some were at our house. We read John 18 looking for what Christ is and what He does. What touched me most is v. 4: He is the one who knowingly and willingly went forth to die. Lord, thank You for dying for us!

amen brother, its really nice to know that this helped you too , i also helped me soo much , there is a small part in that book which Watchman nee corrected later in his ministry in a ministry magazine , the part of Reconing , which is actually turning to our human spirit , because in our human spirit there is the reality of the death of Christ , and when we turn to our spirit by calling on his name , we will enter into his experience of Crucifixcion , this was later revelation got to him , when we call on the name of the lord with faith saying , oh lord Jesus , we would immediatley turn to our spirit, the more we call on his name , the more we will enter into our spirit , because in 1cor 12 :3 says no one can say Jesus is lord except in Holy Spirit . For the non believers , it is difficult to have faith in the lord and say this , because Satan has blinded their hearts(2cor 4:4) and the ruler of this world is satan (john 12: 31, eph 2 :2 )

I also suggest you to read The spiritual man1,2,3(which he wrote when he was just 23) , The Normal Christian Churchlife ,The normal christian faith, The knowledge of Life , The experience of Life , How to Study the bible , which are all written by Watchman nee , These are very rich books , besides , i firstly i really suggest you to read The economy of God and Basic revelation in the holy scriptures by Witness lee, Who was a Co worker of Watchman nee who was sent by watchman nee to secure all the works of him and he publish all of the books of Watchman nee except The Normal Christian Life which was published in India by Gospel Litrature service in India .

All the books of Watchman nee except sit walk stand, The Normal Christian life and What shall this man do (which were the Most earliest watchman nee s books) can be found in ministrybooks.org ,..He and witness lee brought out many truths which were lost through out the Ages , there is also a biography written by witness lee , The seer of the divine revelation, which is heart touching..

Thanks Chris. And I agree that this is something the whole Church needs to hear. It's interesting to note that John wrote his gospel to Christians who had lost sight of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the answer to everything.

Great post by the way. That's for sharing the link. I recommend everyone go check that post out as well.

Hey, Quincy.

I find this post really helpful, and I think this is a message the Church desperately needs to hear.

It simplifies things so much when we realise that everything we need, have, will have and are aiming for is "in Christ".

I wrote a post on the same theme a while back, entitled "<a href="http://www.blamelewis.com/2011/03/gods-one-answer.html" rel="nofollow">God's one answer</a>", if you want to check it out.

Word. Especially when things can be sprinkled with Christ but not quite full of Him. I guess like having an "appearance of Godliness". Thanks Jamal!

Quincy,

Thanks for sharing your heart here brother. I totally concur. Losing sight of Him can be very subtle and hard to detect. Thanks for this challenge brother.

[...] We lose sight of His presence and indwelling life when we rely more on books and commentaries to understand His word than we do the Holy Spirit. To be honest, this is where I’ve struggled most over the last couple of years. I’ve written about this before in a post titled Where Is Our Dependence? [...]

I like the verse about not crying out. It's quoted in Matt. 12, just after the verse about God putting His Spirit upon Jesus. It's not what we do but what the Spirit does through us or apart from us. When I started blogging, each week I sent an email to a different group of friends, mostly those living near me. I think that was ok with the Lord but He did no obvious work through it. After several weeks my blog had one follower, a sister from South America who I had never met nor communicated with. That was entirely His doing. At that point the Lord stirred me to pray for His word to be released on the internet.
